Things To Do in Swan Valley

Black Swan - Western AustraliaThe Swan Valley is the oldest wine region in Western Australia. Vines were planted in the 1800s with production steadily growing until the 1970s when table wine popularity shot through the roof. It is home to Houghtons Winery where famous winemaker Jack Mann produced fifty vintages. Mann pioneered white table wines, his most famous being Houghton's White Burgundy. He influenced generations of winemakers which is seen in modern winemaking practices today.

The Swan Valley is a 20 minute drive from Perth and is a perfect place for day trippers. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful wineries dotted beside the meandering Swan River. The Valley has beautiful settings for their beautiful wines. Also located in the area are galleries and craft shops, a chocolate factory, olive groves and fresh produce stalls. Guildford is a popular town within the region for its historical buildings, antique stores and arts scene. The Guildford Heritage Walk Trail is a fascinating lesson on the history of Western Australia's first settlement.

The Swan Valley Food and Wine Discovery Trail is especially popular as it takes in 32 kilometres covering 80 wineries, restaurants, breweries and more than 50 fresh produce stalls.
